Keisei Rose Garden

Keisei Rose Garden

Keisei Rose Garden is a garden located in Yachiyo, Chiba. It is run by the Keisei Rose & Garden Company that was established in 1959 to spread rose culture in Japan. The company has received numerous awards in rose competitions and is famous for producing world-class roses. The garden is particularly popular in the late spring/early summer when most of its roses are in full bloom. It is home to more than 10,000 rose bushes and over 1,600 varieties of roses. The roses are planted according to their species and beautifully displayed on arches, screens, poles, pergolas in the garden.

My Experience

Keisei Rose Garden

We visited the Keisei Rose Garden in the last weekend of May. We visited in the morning and it surprisingly wasn't too crowded. There was no line for parking or wait to enter the garden. The garden is very spacious with ample room to walk through the various paths that weave throughout the garden. The garden also offers different recommended routes throughout the garden depending on what you would like to view. We didn't follow the recommended paths and decided just to weave through the garden freely though.

The garden itself is very lovely. Most of the rose bushes are not trimmed too precisely creating a very wild and natural look for the roses, instead of a more curated appearance. The roses mostly consisted of very vibrant pinks, yellows, oranges, and reds. I think some of the early blooming roses had reached their peak, so there were also rose petals on the ground in some places. I saw little children picking them up. So adorable!

The garden takes maybe about a couple hours to walk around. My favorite displays were mainly the arches and the various poles places throughout the garden. I thought the roses on those looked the most lovely. I believe this year the garden is also hosting an Alice in Wonderland themed event, so the park had a couple of small themed rides and food. They even had a marching band and dancers playing and walking through the main area of the garden.

We were lucky the weather was so nice and sunny when we visited! I would recommend wearing sunscreen or bringing an umbrella though because it will get hotter as we get closer to summer!
