Cardcaptor Sakura 25th Anniversary Exhibition

The Cardcaptor Sakura 25th Anniversary Exhibition is a small exhibition taking place in Tokyo Solamachi (Sky Tree). The exhibition is being held in celebration of the anniversary of the anime series from January to February. The exhibition features various photo ops and special photos from the anime, as well as limited-time merchandise.

My Experience

Cardcaptor Sakura 25th Anniversary Exhibition

We visited on the very last day of the exhibition. We made reservations beforehand, but I believe you could also buy tickets on the day of if you lined up! The exhibition took maybe about 40 minutes to an hour to get through. The first section was a long hallway filled with small prints of the anime. The prints were a mix of all arcs, and it was so interesting to see the style change from the older seasons to the current clear card arc!

After that we were led into a small yellow waiting room, before being led into a special section where no photos or video were allowed. It was quite a neat room filled with book shelves and they even had a glowing clow card book! They had a short video of Kero-chan doing a cursory introduction for the exhibition as well. We were then led into another room with more frames from the anime, as well as a magic circle photo op! You could hold a sealing wand and take a picture in the glowing Clow Reed magic circle! The sign in the back says 'release', which is Sakura's catch phrase when transforming her key into her wand and activating the cards.

The next area had a really nice mirrored display of all the clow cards! As well as a mural of Sakura cards and two screens with the anime playing in the background. The mirror display was definitely one of the cooler displays in the exhibition I felt! The mirror display section was also connected to another photo op area where you could take a picture with the sakura cards, the star wand, and Sakura's magic circle. There was a cute cutout of Sakura in the background! You can even have Kero-san in the background too!

The next room was probably my favorite part of the exhibit! There were life size cutouts of Sakura in her various outfits throughout the anime. I think one of the best parts about reading the manga and watching the series when I was young was all of the adorable costumes Tomoe designed for Sakura! I've always loved Clamp outfit designs in their other works too! The display featured a wide range of Sakura's outfits from the older arcs as well as the latest clear card arc.

The outfit exhibit was connected to small room with fake cherry blossom trees and an entrance with Sakura and Syaoran on the curtains. It was a super cute tiny area! I kind of which they made the area even bigger with more pink trees! The small cherry blossom area lead into another photo op featuring the clear cards, Sakura's new magic circle during the clear card arc, as well as adorable cards in the background featuring each of the characters. They also had a dream staff on hand you could use as a prop! This was probably one of the cutest photo op displays!

At the end of the exhibit was the gift shop area. They had so many goods ranging from like acrylic stands, clothing, dish ware, stationary, rugs, bags, plushies, etc! I kind of splurged and bought a sweatshirt, mug, plushies, stickers, and an acrylic stand. I love the designs and merchandise! Cardcaptor Sakura goods are always so cute and adorable! I will say there were a lot of clow / sakura / clear card stickers that were already sold out. A lot of the popular cards were gone, but I still couldn't resist and bought a couple. There were also merchandise limit restrictions on how much you could buy to prevent reselling. I'm a little sad I didn't visit sooner to get more merchandise!
